The City of Naples

One of the most famous streets is certainly Spaccanapoli, as the name indicates, this street literally splits the central area of the city in two, from the Quartieri Spagnoli to the Forcella district. In about 20 minutes you can cross it and find yourself on the other side, admiring the numerous craft stalls, shops, pizzerias and restaurants serving traditional Neapolitan cuisine. Crossing the Spaccanapoli you can deviate into Via Roma, the central heart of shopping, continuing towards the sea you will reach Piazza Plebiscito, one of the most famous and iconic squares in the city.

Passing the square and following the seafront, you will reach Castel dell’Ovo, a fortress that seems brand new but is actually the oldest castle in Naples. If, however, you cross the whole of Spaccanapoli in the direction of the Forcella district, you will be able to admire Piazza del Gesù with its imposing Obelisk of the Immaculate Conception.

The road parallel to Spaccanapoli is Via dei Tribunali, here you can admire numerous churches and continue up to Port’Alba, an enchanting alley where there are numerous musical instrument shops, and where the Conservatory is located. Continuing you can reach Piazza Dante. From here if you continue south you will reach Via Roma, towards north you will head to the National Archaeological Museum.

In the area of the Vomero district, you can reach the Certosa di San Martino, where the third castle in the city is located next to it: Castel Sant’Elmo. From here the view of the city is simply unique, extraordinary, breathtaking.
